GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) concerns the formation of a common legislative framework for processing personal data in the European Union member states.

The protection of individuals from the processing of data of personal nature is a fundamental right. Article 8, paragraph 1 of the European Union Charter on Fundamental Rights (“Charter”) and article 16 paragraph 1 of the European Union Association Agreement define that each individual has the right of protection of their personal data.

Which Data is considered of Personal Nature?

Data of personal nature is any piece of information concerning identified or identifiable individual (“data subject”). The identifiable individual is that whose identity can be established, directly or indirectly, especially by referencing identifying data, such as name, ID number, positional data, online identifying data or in one or more factors which specify the bodily, physiological, genetic, psychological, financial, cultural or social identification of the specific individual.
